Springtime in the city
Finally, the temperatures are rising and we are drawn out of our own four walls again.
Now it’s time to stroll through the park and watch nature bloom or sit outside in our favorite café and relax.
We meet up with friends again and enjoy the fact that the days are getting longer. And while the first lemon butterflies fly through the air, the city has awakened from its winter sleep and is looking forward to its visitors.
Here you are in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom. The unique architecture of the Bauhaus is a characteristic feature of the city. It’s worth going on a discovery tour – we’ll show you the hotspots of spring.
According to the 16th LVo of the state of Saxony-Anhalt for the containment of the coronavirus (valid until April 2), the following restrictions apply to tourist offers:

Always worth the trip
A twin city in the middle of Germany that has so much to offer. Dessau-Roßlau is history and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A city that animates to explore modern architecture to dreamy, historic parks and gardens.
We invite you to get to know the city at one of the most beautiful times of the year with our spring special travel offer.
Parks & Gardens
The Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stretches over 142 square kilometers across the city to Wörlitz. It encompasses significant areas of the historic principality or duchy of Anhalt-Dessau and was initiated by Prince Franz.
Castles, parks, sculptures and the architectural influence from all countries of Europe can be found here again.
The starting point and highlight is the park in Wörlitz as the first landscape garden in continental Europe based on the English model.
Since 1780, further landscape gardens were created in and around Dessau, such as the Georgengarten, the Luisium and the “Waldpark” on the Sieglitzer Berg. Most recently, the Kühnau Park, designed in 1805, was added.
It takes more than one day to visit all the parks. You can make beautiful tours to the individual parks by bicycle. All parks are connected in the signposted Garden Kingdom Route “Fürst Franz”.
The Dessau-Wörlitz railroad offers the fastest route between the two cities.
For a coffee
Meeting up for a coffee with your best friend or drinking a cool after-work beer with the guys in the outdoor seating area – that’s spring.
We love to sit in the sun, let the day end comfortably and be among people again.
In Dessau-Roßlau, you can do that in countless cafés and restaurants that have their outdoor area in the middle of the city or in the idyllic greenery, and all that not far from each other. And best of all, our world cultural heritage is omnipresent.
A visit to the zoo
Our zoo is a popular destination for young and old all year round. Due to the constant expansion of the facility, there is always something new to discover here.
The newest residents, two collared bears from Siberia, are just settling in and are looking forward to many visitors in their new home.
Garden Dream Lounge
The time has come, the Gartenträume Lounge has left its winter quarters and is ready for a relaxing break, freshly renovated and colourfully planted on the market square in Dessau.
The specially made wooden furniture serves guests and citizens alike to linger and relax.
The surrounding gastronomy and the fountain in the middle of the square, as well as the Open Stage in the summer months, provide the perfect backdrop to enhance the quality of the stay.
From June onwards, we can look forward to a great city summer programme, which will take place with the Open Stage in the middle of the lounge.
