Active vacation

Dessau-Roßlau offers plentiful opportunities for getting active. With its innumerable parks and green spaces, the town has lots of room for outdoor activities. A jog round the UNESCO World Heritage Site or a canoe trip on the Elbe are an absolute must.

But any active-minded visitor should also put a game of golf or an ascension of the Zuckerturm climbing wall firmly on their list of things to do. And some of these things can be perfectly combined with one another.

Golf course

Golfpark Dessau offers a modern, 32-hectare, 9-hole course right in the middle of the town. The elaborately designed green includes several artificial ponds and strategically placed sand bunkers.

The golf course can also be booked for events. Regular events and an excellent restaurant provide the cherry on the cake and make it a must-see for every visitor.

Oranienbaum Heath

Hiking in the Oranienbaum Heath

Adjacent to the eastern part of the city is a very special landscape: the Oranienbaum Heath.
Extensive heath landscapes and mixed deciduous forests characterize the area, which belongs to the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve. After the area was used for decades by the Soviet army as a training ground, numerous heath-typical animal and plant species dominate today. The heath landscape is cared for by wild Heck cattle and Konik horses – a great destination for observing nature, e.g. on a bike tour from Dessau to Ferropolis.

Please note that only certain paths through the Oranienbaum Heath are open due to the previous military use.
