1.place at the competition regional menu
At the end of April 2023, the winners of the Regional Menu 2022/2023 competition were announced. Saxony-Anhalt’s most important cooking competition was thus organized by the Anhalt-Dessau Culinary Association for the 10th time.
At least five regional ingredients must be “cooked” in the regional menu. For most of the participants, there were considerably more. In addition mottos were given.
This year, for the first time, the jury awarded two first places. The jury included Thomas Wolffgang (chairman of the Central German Chefs’ Association, textbook author and vocational school teacher), Daniel Giesicke (Anhalt-Dessau Culinary Association), Dr. Ralf-Peter Weber (Central Elbe Regional Brand) and Stefan B. Westphal (Mitteldeutsche Zeitung media group). The patron of the search for the 2022/2023 regional menu was Christian Tylsch, District Administrator of the Wittenberg district.
The Schützenhaus Kemberg was able to win 1st place, in particular thanks to the main course. Served were Bergspitzen of wild boar with dumplings, grapes from their own vine and lamb’s lettuce.
ToBi ornot ToBe scored with appetizer and dessert. Therefore, a 1st place also goes to Dessau-Roßlau. Tobias Felger could convince the jury with his Tobillias and the dessert consisting of hemp oil, homemade lard, marzipan, licorice, mite cheese and testosterone globules.
Third place went to the defending champion: the “von Bora Restaurant” from Lutherstadt Wittenberg.
A special prize from the jury went to Max Scherbaum from Zieglers Restaurant in Wörlitz. The 3rd-year apprentice served a very special greeting from the kitchen.
A total of eight restaurateurs from the districts of Anhalt-Bitterfeld and Wittenberg, as well as from the city of Dessau-Roßlau, took part and showed what our region has to offer in terms of cuisine. The second representative from our city besides ToBi ornot ToBe was the restaurant Radisson Blu Fürst Leopold Hotel.
