Young bears on the large outdoor area
Since this week, the two young ussurian ruffed bears “Fritz” and “Franz”, together with mother “Anastasia”, have been exploring the large outdoor enclosure at Dessau Zoo.
This was preceded by extensive repair work to make the enclosure, which was built for adult brown bears, safe for the little climbing artists.
“Anastasia” will use the outdoor area with her cubs in the morning until the afternoon and then “Dmitry” will have the outdoor area to himself. For safety reasons, the cubs with mother “Anastasia” will not be seen together with father “Dmitry”.
“Fritz and Franz have developed splendidly and are very active, especially in the early morning,” reveals zoo manager Jan Bauer. The times for the young animals in the large outdoor enclosure are to be extended bit by bit.
