Dessau-Roßlau becomes the capital of amateur music from March 17 to 19.
TCOM are coming to Saxony-Anhalt this year. With diverse and top-class concerts, the festival celebrates music and the people who make it. Many resident music clubs present the whole variety of music.

The Days of Choral and Orchestral Music (TCOM) will take place in Dessau-Roßlau (Saxony-Anhalt) from March 17 to 19, 2023. As one of the most important festivals of amateur music in Germany, the great music festival shows the diversity and quality in which 14.3 million people in our country make music in their free time.

For this purpose, Mayor Dr. Robert Reck on behalf of the city and Jasko Dolezalek as project manager for the Federal Music Association Choir & Orchestra (BMCO) signed a cooperation agreement today.

Regional music associations, children’s and youth choirs from the twin city, as well as a wide variety of instrumental and vocal ensembles will take center stage during the Days of Choral and Orchestral Music. The Federal Music Association has also invited numerous amateur music ensembles from all over Germany to Dessau-Roßlau. The musicians will present themselves to the public in a wide variety of formats.

In addition to the City of Dessau-Roßlau’s kick-off concert and the Market Square Open-Air, the Long Night of Music is a unique attraction with numerous concerts at many well-known venues in the city.

The highlight of the three-day festival is the appreciation and honoring of ensembles rich in tradition with the Zelter and PRO MUSICA plaques, which are donated annually by the Federal President. They will be awarded to the selected ensembles during a ceremony at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau on Sunday, March 19, 2023. The Minister of State for Culture and Media Claudia Roth MdB is expected to attend the presentation of the plaques.

The Days of Choral and Orchestral Music are organized by the Federal Music Association Choir & Orchestra together with the city of Dessau-Roßlau. Such a music festival

is in the best possible place in the city on the Mulde and Elbe rivers, with its many choirs, ensembles and great musical tradition from Friedrich Schneider to Kurt Weill.

The Bauhaus city was already scheduled to host the event in 2020. However, the festival of amateur music had to be canceled shortly after the outbreak of the Corona pandemic.

TCOM are supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, the state of Saxony-Anhalt and the city of Dessau-Roßlau.
