City tour season starts with Jumbo

The double-deckers of the Dessau local transport friends are now an integral part of the Dessau-Roßlau cityscape. The fourth season of this service begins on May 4 and everyone involved is proud to have established the project so successfully. Only on the
opening day, a vehicle from the LVG Büssing DE 72 series will be used.

Of course, the focus of a city tour is on the city, but the icing on the cake of the tours with the local transport friends are of course the vehicles.
vehicles. This season, the two MAN SD 200s will once again be used, one in historic beige and one in the Visit Dessau livery.
A special feature of the opening day on May 4 is the use of a guest vehicle from Lübeck and Berlin. In the 1960s, the BVG developed a double-decker bus for one-man operation together with Büssing.
This meant that there was no longer a conductor on board and passengers could buy their tickets either in advance or directly from the bus driver. The

built. It is equipped with an improved gearbox and can reach a top speed of 100 km/h.

From 1984 to 1996, the vehicle served as an advertising vehicle in Dülmen before it was acquired by Berliner Traditionsbus GmbH and used in the
Lübeck look in Berlin. Passengers on the Dessau city tour can take a seat on the red leatherette seats of this bus exclusively on May 4 and experience the city tour in the “Jumbo”.

Because: when accelerating, the gearbox whistles like an airplane taking off.
like an airplane taking off, earning the vehicles this nickname in Berlin.
Hannes Wolf, Managing Director of the Dessau-Roßlau city marketing company
is delighted that the tours are starting again: “The more tourist products we have in the city, the stronger Dessau-Roßlau can become as a tourist destination. We all benefit from this. I am therefore very grateful to the local transport
very grateful on behalf of the whole city for their voluntary commitment and
their great tourist offer.”

Over 2,000 guests use the service each season. The buses run from May 4 to October 26, every Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m. from the main post office. There are no changes to the prices: Adults €18, concessions €15.
Tickets are available directly on site and at the Dessau Tourist Information Office.
