27. CASTLE THEATRE SUMMER ROSSLAU

Unique theater experience at Roßlau’s moated castle.

Today sees the premiere of the 27th BURGTHEATERSOMMER in ROSSLAU. With a dramatized version of the novella “Michael Kohlhaas” by Heinrich von Kleist, staged by Andrea Pinkowski in the open air in the inner courtyard of the Roßlau moated castle, with musical accompaniment by Karl Neukauf.

Kohlhaas, the horse trader, encounters an unprecedented barrier in the forest outside Dresden; supposedly a new regulation. A dispute breaks out and suspicions of arbitrariness and corruption soon become certain. Soon Kohlhaas is fighting for justice and honor in the maelstrom of events. Until Wittenberg burns. – We show Kohlhaas’ tragic journey in search of justice, not without humor and playfulness.

Something for everyone.

As in previous years, the program at the moated castle is varied and aimed at all age groups.
The well-known fairy tale “The Frog King” from the Brothers Grimm collection will be read, narrated and performed by two actors in the orchards next to the castle and is sure to delight the youngest fans.

Karl Neukauf’s concert “Club of Rome, Ghost of Helsinki, Moscow by Night, Boulevard of Loneliness” on August 11 at 7 p.m. is a musical highlight of the Burgtheater summer.
After the sold-out concert in 2023, this year he will be joined by Tobias Hillig on electric guitar.
And let’s not forget the theater workshops for children and young people, which are free to attend and promise an exciting program followed by a performance.
