Das Kurt Weill Fest geht vom 24.02. bis zum 12.03.2023 in die 31. Runde. Auch im kommenden Frühling dürfen sich BesucherInnen des beliebten internationalen Kulturfestivals auf 47 hochwertig kuratierte Konzerterlebnisse sowohl namhafter als auch aufstrebender KünstlerInnen freuen. Unter dem Motto „Im Zeichen des Umbruchs“ laden 16 bekannte und neue Spielstätten in und um Kurt Weills Heimatstadt Dessau zu einer Reise in die Zwanziger Jahre des vergangenen Jahrhunderts ein – eine Zeit des Aufbruchs und Exzesses, aber auch tiefgreifender Krisen und Veränderungen.
Die künstlerische Leitung des Festivals obliegt der Musikwissenschaftlerin Constanze Mitter gemeinsam mit Gerhard Kämpfe, der bereits zum fünften Mal die Intendanz des Kurt Weill Festes übernommen hat.

Das liebevolle Programm verspricht sehr viel und die Gäste dürfen sich auf vielfältige musikalische Highlights für jede Generation freuen“, betont Thomas Markworth, Präsident der Kurt-Weill-Gesellschaft e.V. Das Festival profitiere von der langjährigen Erfahrung der beiden ebenso wie von ihrer Kreativität und Leidenschaft für Kunst und Bühne.
Als Artist-in-Residence 2023 wird der herausragende Pianist Sebastian Knauer beim Kurt Weill Fest gastieren, dessen über 30 Jahre andauernde Konzertkarriere ihn in bisher über 50 Länder auf 4 Kontinenten führte. Sowohl solistisch als auch mit anderen virtuosen MusikerInnen wird der gebürtige Hamburger auf der Bühne zu erleben sein.
Neben Knauer werden weitere beliebte SolistInnen wie Klaus Maria Brandauer, Johannes Strate, Winnie Böwe, Angela Winkler, Nils Landgren und Jocelyn B. Smith Teil des Kurt Weill Fests 2023 sein. Doch auch der Nachwuchsförderung im Rahmen des Podiums Junger Künstler wird im kommenden Jahr besondere Bedeutung beigemessen:
“Today’s great artists were once what we now call ‘newcomers’, and established themselves thanks to hard work, creative output and, last but not least, performances in front of a wide variety of audiences in a wide variety of venues. But this stage must be provided. Kurt Weill, like hardly any other composer, also stood for trying things out, the desire for something new and the joy of further development,” says Gerhard Kämpfe. The Kurt Weill Festival 2023 presents a total of eleven events with young artists. An important part of this mission is also the residency of young artists in the Masters’ Houses in Dessau-Roßlau – a decades-old tradition in the Bauhaus city. For the first time, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and the Kurt Weill Fest are now cooperating with the newcomer platform local heroes to offer a residency program tailored specifically to the needs of young pop artists.
In addition to well-known venues such as the Anhaltisches Theater in Dessau, the Bauhaus, the Kornhaus and the Steintor-Varieté in Halle (Saale), next year’s music festival venues will include stages in the historic Kursaal in Bad Lauchstädt, the Malsaal of the Cranach Foundation in Wittenberg and the Georg-Friedrich-Händel Halle in Halle (Saale).
A special highlight will also be the concert experiences on the MS Goldberg. This is a Jewish theater ship that will dock near the Kornhaus in Dessau for three days especially for the Kurt Weill Festival.
On Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, the official presale for all events will start. Tickets can be purchased at the usual price level of previous years at the tourist information offices in Dessau and Roßlau and on the Kurt Weill Festival website or by phone at 0340/ 61 19 07 (Mon-Thu from 09.00 – 18.00).
