Elbe Bathing Day on July 10, 2022

On Sunday, July 10, after a three-year break, there will finally be another Elbebadefest. A diverse program will be offered between Kornhaus and Leopoldshafen. As in previous years, it will be possible – accompanied by the DRK water rescue – to swim across the Elbe or to be ferried in boats of the THW to the Roßlauer bank of the Elbe, in addition, various water sports can be tried out. A colorful market invites you to stroll around.

On the eve of the Elbebadefest, Saturday July 9, the association “Film ab” shows the wonderfully melancholic film “Schultze gets the blues” with cult actor Horst Krause not far from the Kornhaus directly on the banks of the Elbe. Start is at 21:20, admission costs 6 euros (reduced 5 euros).

The first Elbebadefest Dessau was celebrated in 2002. From the beginning, it was conceived as a family festival and attracted between 3,000 and 10,000 visitors, depending on the weather. The basic idea has remained unchanged to this day: It is to keep alive the idea of river swimming, which has been lost in the many decades of extremely polluted rivers. The organizers are the Kiez e. V. and the city of Dessau-Roßlau. The organization is in the hands of the Yacht Club Dessau, the Seesportverein and the Junkers Paddelgemeinschaft, all residents of the Leopoldshafen. Important and indispensable partners are the THW and the DRK-Wasserwacht. The festival is financially supported by the Stadtwerke Dessau.
