It´s Christmas time...
Once again, a year is drawing to a close and we can look forward to a cozy finale at the Dessau Advent Market.
The construction is already in full swing and to the great joy of Dirk Merkel, the operator of the Dessau Christmas market, so far without complications. Who went in the past days over the market place, will have perhaps already wondered. Because despite the little wintry temperatures, the preparations for the Christmas market are already in full swing.
In less than two weeks, on 22.11.2022, the market opens and will have to offer all kinds of things to its guests on more than 32 days.
Under the motto “Dessau im Lichterglanz” visitors can look forward to great light installations and illuminated figures. The popular photo motif of Tante Ju will also shine in the middle of the market.
52 traders have registered and thus almost all stands are fully booked. Only two “Wanderhütten” can still be booked by interested parties. Here, the operator hopes for various traders or associations who are also welcome to rent for just one weekend.
In addition to the traditional mulled wine and gastronomy stands, rides and an artificial ice rink as well as a new train for the little guests are expected. To everyone’s delight, the prices have not increased compared to last year and you can look forward to an atmospheric Advent market This year’s Christmas market cups with the winning motif from 2021 can be purchased at the market or at the city’s tourist information offices as a nice souvenir.
And also this year, the city marketing company together with Mr. Merkel is organizing a competition to design the Advent Market Cup 2023. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 from Dessau-Roßlau are called upon to participate. The painting template can be found on the Advent Market flyers, which will be available in the tourist information offices from 23.11.2022. In addition, the templates will be distributed in the schools of the city. The closing date for entries is 12.12.2022. As last year, the draw will take place on 18.12.2022 at the Christmas Market.
