45th Roßlau Local History and Boat Festival 2025

From 28 to 31 August 2025, the 45th Heimat- und Schifferfest (local heritage and boat festival) will take place in Roßlau. This traditional event on the banks of the Elbe is one of the largest festivals in the region and combines the preservation of customs with a varied entertainment programme.

The festival kicks off on Thursday with fairground rides, food stalls and the first events on the festival grounds. The festival officially opens on Friday with the raising of the flag in the ‘Allee der Elbestädte’ (Avenue of Elbe Towns), a parade with the Blau-Weiß Roßlau marching band and a reception in the festival tent with speeches and the tapping of the beer barrel.

On Saturday and Sunday, numerous other activities are on the programme. Visitors can visit the farmers’ market, get to know clubs and associations on the ‘Mile of Clubs’ and experience various cultural contributions.

For children, there are hands-on activities and demonstrations, among other things.
On the Elbe, there are water sports activities and demonstrations of
historic motorboats.

A highlight is the traditional fireworks display on Saturday evening, which concludes the festivities on the banks of the Elbe. Sunday is dedicated to music, theatre and the joint march of the boatmen’s association with guests and clubs. The festival ends on Sunday evening with the ceremonial lowering of the flags.

The Heimat- und Schifferfest has been a meeting place for residents and guests from the surrounding area for many years. It combines maritime traditions with modern entertainment and thus contributes significantly to cultural life in Roßlau.
