28th BURGTHEATERSOMMER starts
From 15 July 2025, the historic moated castle of Roßlau will once again be transformed into a unique open-air stage: the 28th Burgtheater summer starts and brings five weeks of first-class theatre in a special atmosphere. This year’s centrepiece is an opulent production of Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’, directed by Andrea Pinkowski. The ensemble, including Soheil Boroumand, Jona Hansen and Claudia Korneev, brings the famous drama about power, doubt and revenge to the stage with great passion. In addition to the main play, the festival offers a varied supporting programme for young and old.
Families in particular can look forward to the children’s fairy tale ‘Das Traumbild vom
Sonnenberg’ – a poetic story about the courage to follow one’s
dreams, performed on the orchard meadow next to the castle. Those
who prefer things to be spontaneous and humorous will get their money’s worth at ‘Frei Schnauze’, the
improvisation theatre in the Torscheune – every
performance is different and guaranteed to be entertaining.
The Castle Theatre Summer is a joint project of the theatreBurg Roßlau e.V. and the Förderverein Burg Roßlau e.V., which have been committed to the preservation and cultural use of the medieval castle for many years. The festival not only offers theatre enjoyment at a high level, but also a special ambience that attracts visitors from far beyond the region. Tickets for the evening events are available online and the children’s theatre is free of charge. Further information on the programme, tickets and travel information can be found on the official website: www.burgtheatersommer.de.
